Seccagrande is a delightful seaside village in Sicily, part of Ribera town 7km away. The 468 inhabitants of this coastal village reside in the gorgeous villas which are also rented by tourists in the summer, to benefit from the beautiful sea view. This small relaxing village has many cafes and bars along the sea front next to a beautiful pebble beach with a manmade reef, where the sunsets are stunning. If you are in Sicily on the western coast south of Sciacca mid September you should attend Seccagrande’s spectacular annual Pizza Festival. Subsidised by local businesses, there is an immense pizza kitchen, complete with bar, set up on the beach and hundreds flock to eat delicious pizza and drink for a just a few euros. There isn’t just pizza on offer as there are many market stalls selling everything from Antipasto and ice-cream to shoes and italian marble. The four day festival has comedians and singers that are well known in Sicily every night to entertain and add to the lively atmosphere. Seccagrande is a great holiday destination for those looking for an intimate and relaxing time nearby shops and restaurants, and a small population of locals and tourists.
